Ormond Beach Canopy Drive

• There's an interesting stretch of road in Ormond Beach where the road is covered by a tree canopy. The trees seemingly join hands to form a canopy over the road. The drive is part of the scenic route. It is unique and interesting.
• Starting on Beach Street at Granada Blvd., head north. About 2 miles up the road, the canopy will start. Continue north and you may see a lot of wild life. ou will pass Tomoka State park and come out and cross the Tomoka River. You will want to stay to the right and continue north. You will eventually get to Halifax Plantation and the drive ends at that point.
• An interesting diversion, is to turn right on Walter Boardman Rd. after you pass the first Halifax Plantation entrace. Taking this turn you will be on a road that is literally cut through the wetlands. Take the first right and stay on this road and you will eventually get to the Atlantic Ocean.
• If you stop at the beach here, it will be very much different than the beach in Daytona. Here the beaches are little wilder with dunes. The footing is uneven, but it's a nice break from the flat beaches. You won't find much in the way of crowds here, but you will find more fisherman and catamaran sailboats.
• The Daytona Beach area has a lot more to offer than the beach. Many people enjoy kayaking and canoeing on the Tomoka River, sailing and boating on the Tomoka and Halifax River, and ocean boating from Ponce Inlet.
