Daytona Beach is known at the World's Most Famous Beach, but there's much more to the story. Stretching for miles and miles from Ponce Inlet in the south to Ormond by the Sea in the north, there's a beach for whatever you like to do.

Let's start in the south. Ponce Inlet is the home of the local lighthouse and quiet more unspoiled beaches. The beach appears unspolied in many places and these beaches are great for walking.

Moving up to Daytona Beach Shores, we see a lot of people on the beach because there are a lot of Daytona Beach Shores condos. Residents and visitors will be out in force in the morning and evenings but not so much during the heat of the day. However, there can be big crowds around the Sunglow Pier. The pier has fishing and a restaurant, but attracts a lot of sunbathers nearby.

Daytona Beach has the most crowded beaches because of hotels. During events, like spring break, the crowds can be huge. If you are looking for crowds, the area around the Daytona Beach Pier is the place to go.

Ormond Beach has fewer crowds that Daytona Beach and driving on the beach stops where State Road 40 (Granada Blvd.) intersects with the ocean. It's a really nice walk north of Granada along the stretch where large beach homes face the ocean.

Further north to Ormond by the Sea, you will find fewer people and soft deep sand. It's best to walk on these beaches closer to low tide so that there's a somewhat flat beach to walk on. There are lots of birds and don't be surprised to be fishermen and surfers.

Surfers can be seen all long the Daytona Beach area beaches. When the surf is up, they'll be there. They will be out in wet suits during the winter too.
