A Nice Sunday Drive in Ormond Beach Florida

Let's take a nice drive in Ormond Beach, Florida. We'll start at the Halifax River and then proceed along the Canopy before turning toward the ocean and heading south.

Leg 1:

• Start at the intersection of Granada Blvd. (SR40) and Beach Street in Ormond Beach.
• Drive North on Beach Street
• Beach Street will turn into Old Dixie Highway

Leg 1 will take you up Beach Street where the canopy of trees over the highway will start. You will drive past some lovely water north of Tomoka State Park and then through move wooded area past Bulow Creek State Park until your turning point.

Leg 2:

• After driving about 10 miles from Beach Street and passing Bulow Creek State Park, you will come to a big bend to the left in the road
• Turn right on to Walter Boardman Lane.
• Turn right again at the stop sign on to Highbridge.
• Pass over the bridge and continue east to the ocean

Leg 2 has some of the most beautiful water scenery I have seen anywhere in the world. Drive slow and take you time. You may even want to get out of the car in one of the pullover areas. Watch out for the fishermen though, they are often here.

Leg 3:

• Turn right on to A1A off of Highbridge
• Continue south for about 10 miles to Granada Blvd.
• Turn right on Granada and go about two miles to return to where you started.

Before you continue on leg 3, your may want to drive over A1A to the parking area by the beach. It's an uncrowded area and a good place for a snack while you take in the ocean sights and sounds. When you continue your drive, you'll have the ocean out of your driver side windows. Depending on the weather, it can be calm or raging. Either way it's a glorious sight.
