South Daytona Homes for Sale
South Daytona is on the mainland side of the Halifax River between Port Orange to the south and Daytona Beach to the north. The are a few South Daytona homes for sale under $100,000, but rising prices have pushed most homes above $150,000.
Riverfront homes on the Halifax River are more expensive because of the spectacular views and river access. South Daytona has the advantage of being closer to ocean access at Ponce Inlet than homes with docks in Ormond Beach, Daytona Beach or Holly Hill. You can get to the beach from South Daytona from the Dunlawton Bridge in Port Orange to the South, or from the Orange Avenue Bridge in Daytona Beach to the north. The Orange Avenue Bridge is being rebuilt at the time I'm writing this, so you may need to go to the International Speedway Bridge in the short-term. Access to I-95 and I-4 is less than 15 minutes from anywhere in South Daytona. Beach access is from 10-15 minutes.
The Daytona Beach area weather is wonderful. I think it's the best in Florida. Our great weather makes it a recreational paradise. South Daytona is minutes from Daytona Beach Municipal Golf Course with its two courses. The South Course is a nice course for a casual round. The North Course is a challenging championship level course. Other popular courses nearby are Cypress Head in Port Orange and LPGA with it's two challenging courses.
The river and ocean are close by and with decent traffic, you can be at Disney or Universal in slightly over an hour. South Daytona was originally named Blake with about 40 families. Today there are over 13,000 residents in this independent city. There's much more about South Daytona at Wikipedia.
